Due to the great diversity of caste, religion, and culture within Indian society, which is characterized by various social traditions, there may occasionally be disparities and barriers preventing underprivileged groups from obtaining crucial resources. The scheduled caste, scheduled tribes, other underprivileged classes, women, minorities, and those with disabilities are all specifically mentioned in these sections.

To cater to these groups, an Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) is set up under the Pune Institute of Business Management to make the education system inclusive and responsive to their needs. The Cell's primary goal is to identify problems faced by the underprivileged groups on campus, create an atmosphere that is supportive and free from discrimination, and guarantee their equality and access to equal opportunities through the effective implementation of inclusive policies and programs.

Discrimination against any individual based on physical or mental impairments, minority status, or other factors is a flagrant breach of the generally recognized principles of equality and human rights, as well as constitutional requirements.

The fundamental goal of the Equal Opportunity Cell is to make sure that staff and students from all different backgrounds—including those related to community, religion, geography, gender, and ability—do not miss out on basic possibilities. For the sake of fostering inclusivity and unity, they must all have access to all fundamental rights.

The objective of EOC:

  • To establish and put into practice unified principles and space requirements for a barrier- free built environment for everyone.
  • To promote equality among everyone and eradicate discrimination or harassment.
  • To identify the problems on campus and to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone.
  • To periodically communicate information on plans, initiatives, office orders, notices, and programs relevant to the welfare of target populations.
  • To encourage inclusive and diverse practices on campus and to give disadvantaged groups ample opportunities.
  • Protect students' interests without regard to their disability, caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, or place of birth.
  • To foster an environment of equal opportunity through campaigns to raise awareness.
  • To speed legal remedy in cases of equal protection violations
